YUM!
Yesterday was my birthday, and I just had to share photos of my cake. It was so pretty and so delicious! It’s called a princess cake, for those of you who don’t recognize it. The inside is a simple yellow cake, with layers of whipped cream and vanilla custard, a ribbon of raspberry puree, and the best part is that it is covered in a layer of soft pink marzipan. It’s subtle and the flavors and textures are varied. Such a treat! My husband got this one from the Paris Bakery Cafe here in downtown Monterey. They have a lot of specialties and this cake has got to be one of them!
Autumn Sunshine
This is just to get you all in the mood for fall. Some of these photos were taken at Hacienda Hay and Feed and others next door at Earthbound Farm, in Carmel Valley. Most of the kids were dressed up, including the adorable baby, Jason, getting nuzzled by his mama, Jackie.
Jet the Builder’s Beach Party
We had so much fun at this party on Carmel River Beach. Pia, Jet’s mom, did such a great job with all the details. All the kids wanted to stay forever building sand castles and playing in the water.
“Oh no, Kanon!”
The title of this entry can be attributed to my son who is Kanon’s playmate. My son adores chasing Kanon anywhere, and yelling “Oh no, Kanon!” at him for no particular reason. In fact chasing Kanon is one of Owen’s favorite things in life. That is one reason it makes me so sad that Kanon and his mom Karina and her husband Ben are being re-stationed to Japan and will move in a few weeks. We will miss them a lot, but we are excited for them because Japan was their wish. So, in honor of that, and because I already had some photos of him I really like, here is Kanon!
